Look, you made a circle

Bible vs comic, hmmmm!

Skeptical Exaddict

I posted this image on Facebook the other day, after stealing it off somebody else’s timeline, and I was amazed at the amount of discussion it generated.

proof

I hereby accept Spider-man as my personal saviour.

The joke is of course mocking people who like to quote “the word” as proof of God’s existence. If you can accept that, then you might as well accept a Spider-man comic as proof of Spider-man’s existence, right? All praise Spider-man!

Here’s the thing: According to your logic, God exists because you accept that the nonsense written down thousands of years ago, by some cattle-sacrificing nomads in the Middle East, is the literal word of God, whose existence you presuppose. In other words, you believe in God because God.

Seriously, I can’t think of a better example of circular logic.

Never Discuss Politics, Religion, or Money (A Family Rule)

Embrace other people’s beliefs to create a comfortable world for everyone

Insights Of A Bipolar Rambler

My father had always had the mentality that you never discussed certain subjects around a group of people. When it came to Religion it was up to us to decide what we wanted to believe in. The same with politics. He never pushed us in any one direction. I love him more for that. He might not agree with our choices but he let us make them. I learned a long time ago to keep my mouth shut about most things. There are too many right fighters out there. I refuse to take the bait. They don’t want to have an intelligent conversation where both sides listen, they just want to argue until they are blue in the face and you give in. My mind can’t handle it. Or maybe I’m the right fighter and just don’t want to admit it. Who knows?

I have been sober for 6 years…

MY SPIRITUALITY

To start off, faith is something personal. Its so personal that if I was to rate it to show how personal it is out of 10, I would give it a 15. Due to that fact, one should never try to change one’s beliefs or act condescendingly towards another because of their beliefs. Instead, those who have similar beliefs should come together once in a while and brainstorm on how to handle some of the ‘situations’ they encounter in their lives, after all, no man is an island. This way one gets to grow spiritually.
What exactly is growing spiritually?
Well, a human being has different facets; physical, mental, emotional/social, and spiritual which once developed individually make a complete human being. the spiritual dimension is often ignored by physiologists, economists, physicians and the rest of the math and science people. Don’t forget the computer guys too. Spirituality is related to your capability to discern between the good and evil, beautiful and ugly, your relationship with your god and transcendence.
To be spiritual, you don’t have to be religious, though there must be something that feeds your spirituality. Some use music, contemplative thinking, exemplary biographies, the environment, etc, but the simplest spirituality is attained by means of religious experience.

Those who are spiritually developed are usually more happy, relaxed and carry a certain atmosphere of maturity with them.
So whatever you use to feed your spirituality is up to you as an adult, nobody should give a damn, though you should check yourself not to become an antisocial because again, no man is an island.
Finally, faith is something personal even the bible shows that in Mathew 6:6,

“when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your father who is in secret; and your father who sees in secret will reward you.”
